Norfolk is characterised by wonderful gently rolling countryside, of attractive villages, whose buildings of flint, red brick or Norfolk carstone have been built around village greens and ponds. Much of the landscape is dotted with churches and windmills and covered with a network of rivers and dykes. To the south and west, lie the Fens, which consist of a vast area of farmland and big skies.
